Summertime Scrapping
It's summer!!! One of my favorite things to do in the summertime is to go through my "scrap bags" to see what I can make without going to the store to buy more fabric. My scrap bags are not a hodge-podge of random scraps. They are designer fabric collections that I keep together in one bag. I have bags and bags and bags of these scraps. I also have many. many different colors of solid flannels, minkie and fleece. Sometimes opening a bag is like a surprise gift. I had forgotten how beautiful it was or that I might have enough to make a whole new rag quilt. I am having such a good time with these scraps that I wanted to share what I've made.
Anna Maria Horner's Pretty Potent bag
Sarah Watts Timber and Leaf bag
Bonnie Christine's Hello Bear bag
Can't remember the name of this fabric
I have not bought one bit of fabric for any of these projects, it's all from scraps I've saved.
I will be sharing more in the days to come.

I'm back!!!
I haven't written a post here since November of last year and a lot has happened! In December I had a mastectomy and February 1st I started chemotherapy as insurance to never get cancer again. It has been the hardest 6 months of my life!!! Fortunately, I am feeling so much better, so normal again. I am very grateful and happy and so glad to be back in the light!!!
I was actually able to sew a little through the "good" days of chemo. Anything I could do sewing-wise made me feel normal.
Here I am fusing t-shirts for a quilt. I didn't have the energy to stand up. Luckily the ironing board adjusted to seat level:
I made a little pocket pillow and matching mug rug:
From January to April I made 12 pocket pillows for my 3rd grade study buddies of all their favorite things:
But the biggest things I made during chemo were 4 t-shirt quilts from November - May:
I was so scared before chemo that I wouldn't be able to to sew again like I did before but I showed cancer!!!!

Taking a little break
I will need to take a little break very soon from making my quilts. In October I was diagnosed with my second bout of breast cancer. (3rd cancer of my life) The first breast cancer, 10 years ago, I got away with a lumpectomy. This time, it's more invasive so I need to go further to make sure it doesn't come back. Surgery will be scheduled for some time in December. I'm afraid, not of the surgery or aftermath, but of not being able to quilt again in the way I did. I have been very busy trying to get my 11 custom orders done in time. Here's what I've done since October:
