Yesterday my plan was to layer the t-shirt quilt and quilt it. That would take the whole day and if I got done early I could sew the binding on. The morning was spent clearing the table, which is always covered with fabric, cutting mat, newspapers, mail, etc., etc. The table is the perfect place to layer and pin a quilt.
Then I got a message that the embroidery was done so I stopped what I was doing and I finished the Vintage Style Hanky Quilt. The lady who did the embroidery sent along 2 finished pieces - a large and a small- for me to choose from (how nice). I chose the larger one for the quilt but what could I do with the smaller one? Since it was a name, I couldn't use it for anyone else so I whipped up a surprise gift to go with the quilt. Since the quilt was a hanky quilt I wanted to do something with hankies. I decided on a little burpie using hankies I had cut in half. Here's how it turned out:
Here is the hanky quilt:
(The embroidered name is on the back.)
So when that was all done I did finally layer and pin the t-shirt quilt:
Today my plan is to quilt the t-shirt quilt and cut the fabric for a simple patchwork baby blanket.

What I'm doing 8/9/15
Yesterday was my dear friend Emily's surprise party so I only worked on one project - I sewed 4 of the 5 rows of the hanky quilt together, still waiting for the embroidered square.
Today is my granddaughter's birthday party so I need to come up with some very fast small projects before heading there. Maybe pillows or burpies or a new top for her...

Here's what I'm doing today 8/8/15
Today I will try to finish the hanky rag quilt I started yesterday. I have one more row to sew together and then I need to sew all 5 rows together. I won't be able to complete it until the embroidered square is finished. I'd also like to start cutting the squares for a smooth patchwork baby quilt. It's a little out of my comfort zone but it's the next quilt on my list.
Yesterday the fabric did arrive for the Wee Wander rag quilt so I finished sewing that one. I cut most of the seams earlier and finished up the cutting last night.
I finished the pouf for my grand daughter. This one was harder than the square pouf and looks a bit wonky. It was my first time using piping and sewing it around a circle was what made it more difficult. The piping did give it a finished look.

Here's What I Am Doing Today 8/7/15
I thought I would keep a little diary of my quilting projects. I sew almost every single day to keep up with the custom quilt orders I get from my etsy shop Zeedlebeez and projects that I just have to try that I find on Pinterest or just to use up my fabric scraps.
Today I have a stack of new vintage style hankies all layered and ready to sew for a Hankie Rag Quilt order.
I will also be attempting another pouf that I pinned a while back for my grandbaby. I feel pretty confident because I made this one yesterday:
I used this tutorial from Dutch Girl Originals on Pinterest. It was so easy and I put in my first zipper!!!
Today I'm using a different tutorial for a round pouf from Living with Punks. Here's my progress so far:
I may also finish this Wee Wander rag quilt if the last fabric arrives today. (It will go on top of the solid blue squares.)

Scrappy Summer
This summer my plan is to try to use up as many of my scraps as possible to create my projects. Scraps, which mean for me those 1-4 pieces of 9" squares leftover from quilts down to the tiniest pieces of fabric. Already I have detashed two garbage bags full of scraps that I knew I wouldn't use. (Looking for a place to donate these scraps.)
I plan on making tea wallets, needle books, burp cloths and pillows. So here's what I've done so far:

Spring Break 2015
I am on Spring Break from my job as Intervention Math and Reading Specialist so you can guess what I've been doing. Everyday I've been doing some kind of sewing or sewing prep to make as many quilts as possible before I go back to the kids. Here's what I've accomplished:
And then on Friday I caught my grandbaby's cold and I haven't been able to do much more unfortunately. Seven projects is pretty good though.
